Five years ago a friend of mine was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. She was healthy, newly married and 33 years old. Put yourself in that position for just a minute. What would you do?
Hard to imagine, right? It was for me too when I got a call from a friend saying "Jen has cancer."
Remarkably, my friend Jen (read about her here: http://bit.ly/5z4Ghf) decided she was going to grab the bull by the horns (really, you have to meet her) and raise money herself to battle her disease. She started Cycle for Survival and to date has raised more than $2 MILLION for the cause. After numerous rounds of chemo and surgery, today she is healthier, stronger and even more positive.
As I have for the past several years (even while 9 months pregnant – I tell you, she is really inspiring), at the end of this month, I am riding at Cycle for Survival, Jen's event benefiting cancer research at . My ride supports research on many forms of cancer that are considered rare and don’t often get the funding needed for advancements in treatment. These cancers affect millions of people.
In recent years, Cycle for Survival has funded a clinical trial resulting in a new more effective at shrinking tumors in patients with some forms of rare cancer. The money raised from Cycle for Survival works. You can be a part of that.
Yes, this is an ask for help. It's my blog and I will ask if I want to! Every dollar counts, so please consider making a donation to my ride.
